TEDXhibition 1.0 – Embracing Technology to Your Learning

Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Banda Aceh is a school that combines IMTAQ (faith and Taqwa) and IPTEK (science and technology) based education. For the sake of creating students who are intellectually intelligent, emotionally intelligent, spiritually and internationally minded. Educational technology is a systematic and organized process of applying modern technology to improve the quality of education. It is a systematic way of conceptualizing the implementation and evaluation of the learning process and assisting the application of modern educational teaching techniques. In using educational technology, we should focus on the educational value of the tools and applications we use, how adequate they are in acquiring knowledge, whether there is interaction between the user and the tool, and whether we have a positive effect in using them. The presence of educational technology is growing in the classroom. The new generation is ready to work with this new technology, which plays an important role in students' learning and acquiring various cognitive knowledge so that educational technology should be included in the curriculum. Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Cairo Banda Aceh has applied technology based education especially iPad Learning. The use of IPad has been carried out since 2018 until now. The use of it will accelerate the student learning system and the learning media will be more interesting and varied. Tedxibition 1.0 under title “ Embracing technology to your learning”, which was held on October 11, 2022, was an educational technology exhibition for the first time held at Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Banda Aceh, which aims to expose iPad learning activities to the public. This event was also attended by Mayor’s Office of Banda Aceh on this occasion represented by the assistant for the economy and development, Jalaluddin ST., MT who also strongly supports technology-based learning, and he also hopes that other schools can also follow in the footsteps of Al Azhar Cairo to be able to include technology in their learning. Tedxibition 1.0 Presents a musical drama about ipad learning that makes it easier for students in various lessons, not only general lessons, but also Tahfidz and Islamic Subject. In the Show, the students demonstrate and channel their creativity in various fields such painting and music. Ipad also has various features and applications that can accelerate students' understanding of the subject matter. In addition, at the end of the main show, students also presented an offering which contained 4 pillars which were implemented at the Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Banda Aceh, which was adapted from 4 countries, namely good habits or well manner from Japan, technology from Singapore, Tahfidz curriculum from Egypt and fun learning from Finland. In addition to the presentation on the podium, there were also several booths made by students, teachers and IT staff to showcase the work that had been made so far. There were stands about comics, future architects, Science and robotics. To further enliven the event, there were two competitions that were contested for elementary school students, namely the Procreate competition which was participated by 24 of 5th grade students of Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Banda Aceh and a storytelling competition for Islamic figures which was participated by 9 elementary schools and Islamic elementary schools located in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. This event provides broad insight to the public about the use of technology based learning especially iPad learning in teaching and learning activities at Al Azhar Cairo Islamic School Banda Aceh, hence, in the future there will be more other schools that can implement technology-based learning.
